Frequently Asked Questions

May I Eat in my Room?2021-09-19T17:29:11+00:00

In order to help keep the Inn clean for all of our valued guests, and less hospitable to the unwanted ones that live outside on the farm, we ask that you minimize eating and drinking in your room.  If you have take-out food or food that you brought from home, you are welcome to eat it downstairs in the dining room, or on the back porch.  Please reach out to Anh if you need silverware or plates.

What about Internet and Mobile Service?2021-08-27T18:03:29+00:00

Prepare for a blissful stay…there is no cell service on the property, aside from an occasional whisper of Verizon that appears briefly when the ionosphere is just right.  AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint do not generally work at all.  If you need service (and your phone doesn’t gave WiFi calling enabled), you can drive to Kent or New Preston for coverage.

We do, however, have pretty good Internet service (usually 100M) on the public WiFi – up to you if you want to join that or not!

There is a telephone in the dining area that guests are welcome to use, good for domestic and toll-free calling.

Do I need a car? What about public transit and taxis?2021-08-27T18:00:35+00:00

Oh boy.  Unfortunately, there is very little in the way of public transit in Kent – and especially in South Kent, where we are.  You have two options to get up here, both involve the train and then trying to get a taxi at the other end.  The closest train station is in Harlem-Valley Wingdale.  The other station you can aim for is Danbury.  Both are on the Metro North line and you can find detailed information at the MTA website on arrival and departure times.  We are not aware of any taxis from Danbury but you can schedule a pickup in HMV with Harlem-Wingdale taxi at +1 (845) 224-1893.  Call or text, and definitely schedule in advance.  It will be about $50 from the station.

For service in and around Kent itself, you can reach out to Litchfield County Livery, at +1 (860) 601-9143.  We haven’t used them personally but they do provide travel services in the area.

Legend has it that there’s an Uber driver that will periodically appear on the app, but we’ve never seen it.  Best to have a car if at all possible.

Can I drink the water?2021-08-18T23:03:20+00:00

We have well water, from an artesian well you can see just off the porch.  It provides water for the Inn, as well as for Kent Falls Brewing Company next door.  We are a Connecticut Public Water Source, which means our water is tested monthly for any biological or chemical issues.  For added safety, we have a UV sterilizer installed, and all of the piping from the well pump to your room is new!  We drink our water straight from the tap and find it delicious!

Do I need to be able to climb stairs?2021-05-18T16:57:58+00:00

Our B&B is in a refurbished farmhouse that is over 250 years old.  While most of the infrastructure has been brought up to modern building code (including all of the electrical, plumbing, and heating/cooling), you do need to be able to climb stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor, as there are no bedrooms on the first floor.  We apologize to potential guests with disabilities preventing them from being able to climb stairs.

If you would prefer not to eat downstairs in our lovely dining room, we can bring you breakfast on a tray in your room.  Please let Anh know the night before.

Do you serve any meals besides breakfast?2021-08-18T23:04:15+00:00

Please reach out to Anh directly to discuss private dining options.  Anh can prepare a number of dishes (see her Instagram feed for details!) and would delighted to make you something special when you visit.

May I use the kitchen?2021-03-13T01:10:57+00:00
